Billy Taylor on The Charlie Rose Show (1996) →
A later appearance to complement the one I posted previously from the same program. Dr. Billy Taylor, known as the great ambassador of the jazz world, talks about the Women in Jazz event and a festival in honor of Duke Ellington’s birthday, both at the Kennedy Center.

He was 89 and lived in the Riverdale area of the Bronx. The cause was heart failure, said his daughter, Kim Taylor-Thompson. Dr. Taylor, as he preferred to be called (he earned a doctorate in music...

DJ Stuff: djay for iPad →
Since I switched to a Mac over the summer I’ve been using the software djay with moderate success.  It’s not perfect and is a little too cute for it’s own good sometimes, but it (mostly) does the job I need it do to. Some of the drawbacks I see would be solved with a multitouch screen like the iPad, plus the convenience factor of only bringing a tablet to gigs is tempting. ...
