RIP: Billy Taylor (1921-2010) →
Billy Taylor, a pianist and composer who was also an eloquent spokesman and advocate for jazz as well as a familiar presence for many years on television and radio, died on Tuesday in Manhattan. He was 89 and lived in the Riverdale area of the Bronx.
The cause was heart failure, said his daughter, Kim Taylor-Thompson.

DJ Stuff: djay for iPad →
Since I switched to a Mac over the summer I’ve been using the software djay with moderate success. It’s not perfect and is a little too cute for it’s own good sometimes, but it (mostly) does the job I need it do to.
Some of the drawbacks I see would be solved with a multitouch screen like the iPad, plus the convenience factor of only bringing a tablet to gigs is tempting.
